Immediation is an innovative online platform designed to simplify and streamline legal proceedings. Through Immediation, law firms can establish organizations with their members and facilitate video call meetings between disputing parties to resolve conflicts.
Immediation’s aim was to use an approach that offers a convenient and efficient alternative to traditional court proceedings, saving parties from expensive litigation costs. Ultimately, making the legal sector more accessible, efficient, and cost-effective for individuals and businesses seeking resolution to their disputes.
Individuals within the legal sector have long relied on paper based processes. The familiarity and comfort of traditional methods they have used for years would be our most difficult challenge.
Our high level goals were to:
1. Make the online process as familiar as the traditional process to reduce the learning curve
2. Improve and increase the speed of the resolution process for the parties involved
3. Create a platform that makes managing of cases more accessible
There were two types of users on the platform: firstly, law firms setting up their team of lawyers and solicitors, and secondly, the disputing parties themselves.
As a startup, my priority was to establish consistency in our processes, structure, and design. I took the lead in shaping the design direction. My main responsibility was to develop a scalable design system that could be applied across all our products.
Additionally, I created prototypes for client demonstrations, catering to both stakeholders and potential clients while also offering guidance and support to the junior designer.
Before delving too deeply into new features and pain points, it was essential to establish a single source of truth. I discovered numerous design inconsistencies and identified various UX issues that required attention.
Workflows were assessed and the platform was overall evaluated. Discussions with developers were held to understand limitations and constraints that need to be considered.
After becoming familiar with the platform, along with our primary goals and objectives, I began building a scalable design system.

As we all know, legal proceedings in court can incur significant expenses for clients. Not everyone has the financial means to afford them, and the repetitive process of consulting with a lawyer can become cumbersome.
Cases often drag on for months or even years. Immediation offers an online alternative to pursuing court proceedings, saving clients significant amounts of money and facilitating dispute resolution without escalating the matter further.
Matters can be resolved without going to court by clients completing digital forms containing case details. Upon submission, law firms and lawyers receive the information. Documents and evidence are then uploaded to the digital case file. Once a date is scheduled, both parties convene via video call, and if a resolution is reached, they can sign immediately.

Keeping a case file with hundreds of physical papers of evidence and other documentation is not manageable when law firms have thousands of cases.
To reduce the overwhelming and long process. All video conferences scheduled, documents uploaded and other relevant information is kept under a single digital case file. There is no need to sift through piles of paper again.

Law firms have observed that their case durations have become significantly more efficient. Upon using the platform for a few months, they expressed interest in additional features. Since we already offered a comprehensive range of features, this presented an opportunity to introduce a subscription model offering package deals inclusive of multiple features.
